Chenab
Information Technologies, an ISO 9001:2000
certified organisation has upgraded its data
security and access control package, Cryptic,
to cover Internet security as well. Says Anil
Chandhok, President, CEO and Managing Director,
Chenab, “We initially developed Cryptic in
order to help companies secure their data
over a Local Area Network (LAN). Our first
customer was a bank in Saudi Arabia. When
we began developing the solution, the Internet
was not as prevalent as it is today; and therefore
data was copied on to a floppy and then passed
on. Our aim was to create a solution whereby
even if the floppy were lost, the data stored
in it would be safe. So while the market was
thinking in terms of password protection,
we decided to use encryption. However, with
the onset of the Internet and the resultant
need for security, we decided to extend this
solution to cover the Internet.”
